Located at the corner of Hastings and Cambie Streets, the Flack Block is a proud part of the Hastings Street renaissance currently underway, spearheaded by the redevelopment of the Woodward’s site.

In the fall of 2009, the SFU School of Contemporary Arts will register 2000 students, new market and non-market residential units will be ready for occupation, major new retail outlets will be in place – all of which will transform the neighbourhood.
A portion of the 1910 Woodward’s building will be dedicated to non-profits and operated by the City of Vancouver. The Dominion Building has long housed many of the city’s not-for-profit organizations. The Tides Renewal Centre will take its place between them – radiating social and environmental innovation. Renewal is carefully selecting tenants to create a dynamic and vibrant mix of social and environmental non-profits and entrepreneurs. Our intent is to go beyond merely offering rental space – to create a hybrid office environment, enabling groups to focus on their missions and goals, while at the same time encouraging the cross-fertilization of ideas towards action and innovation.
The Flack Block is a Class B restoration and redevelopment of a landmark turn-of-the century building. The developer, the Salient Group, headed by Robert Fung, has restored and preserved the heritage character of the building to a remarkable degree.
The Tides Renewal Centre committed to achieving LEED® for Commercial Interiors certification through the Canada Green Building Council. As of January 29, 2008, there are only 13 LEED-CI certified projects in BC, including seven in Vancouver. The Tides Renewal Centre will provide a unique opportunity for organizations to reside in a LEED certified project – an opportunity that does not exist anywhere in Canada.
The area is well served by public transit. Pender and Hastings Streets are major transit corridors, and the West Coast Express, Seabus and Skytrain all terminate at the Water Street Station a 5-minute walk away. There is metered street parking and numerous parkades in the area. There are bike lanes throughout the downtown core, and we offer a secure bike room and change rooms with showers, lockers and drying closets for bike commuters.
The Flack Block is located within walking distance of Chinatown, Gastown, Yaletown, Harbour Centre, and the Downtown core, and benefits from all the amenities of these diverse neighbourhoods.
